The variable \(x\) and \(y\) are connected by the equation \(y = 2x^2 + 6x - 3\). Some values of \(x\) and the corresponding values of \(y\) are given in the table.

\(x\)\(-4\)\(-3\)\(-2\)\(-1\)\(0\)\(1\)
\(y\)\(5\)\(-3\)\(p\)\(-7\)\(-3\)\(5\)
  1. Find the value of \(p\).[1]
  2. On the graph grid below, using a scale of \(2\) cm to represent \(1\) unit on the \(x\)-axis and \(1\) cm to represent \(1\) unit on the \(y\)-axis, draw the graph of \(y = 2x^2 + 6x - 3\) for \(-4 \le x \le 1\).[2]
  3. Use your graph in (b) to find
    1. the value of \(y\) when \(x = -2.5\)[1]
    2. the equation of the line of symmetry of the graph[1]
