Volume of a solid cone in standard form and the radius of a sphere cast from the same metal

Volume of a solid cone in standard form and the radius of a sphere cast from the same metal

6 marks

A solid lead cone has a base radius of \(9.4\text{ cm}\) and a vertical height of \(21.5\text{ cm}\).

  1. Calculate the volume of the cone, giving your answer in the form \(a\times10^k\), where \(1\leq a<10\) and \(k\in\mathbb{Z}\).[3]

All of the lead in the cone is melted and recast, without any loss, into a single solid sphere.

  1. Calculate the radius of the sphere, correct to \(2\) significant figures.[3]
