Volume and Surface Area of a Hollowed Composite Solid

Volume and Surface Area of a Hollowed Composite Solid

Secondary 2

Figure above shows a conical space that is hollowed out of a cylinder. The cone is as tall and wide as the cylinder. The cone is entirely filled with water to its brim. If the volume of water is \(484\pi \)cm\(^{3}\) and \(AB=12\) cm,

  1. find the radius, \(r\) cm, of the cone.
  2. Hence, find the area of the surface in contact with water. Leave your answer in two decimal places.
