Transformations of Graphs - Translations, Reflections and Scalings of Graphs

Transformations of Graphs - Translations, Reflections and Scalings of Graphs

The graph of \(y = \sqrt{x}\) is given below, which passes through \((0, 0)\) and \((4, 2)\). For each of the following transformations, describe the transformations involved and sketch on separate diagrams the graphs after each transformation.

Transformation \(1\): \(y = \sqrt{x} - 3\)

Transformation \(2\): \(y = \sqrt{x - 2}\)

Transformation \(3\): \(y = -\sqrt{x}\)

Transformation \(4\): \(y = \sqrt{-x}\)
