Testing and graphing inverse proportion

Testing and graphing inverse proportion

Secondary 2

The table shows some corresponding values of \(x\) and \(y\).

\(x\)\(1\)\(1.25\)\(2\)\(4\)\(10\)
\(y\)\(20\)\(16\)\(10\)\(5\)\(2\)
  1. Find the value of \(\dfrac{1}{x}\) for each value of \(x\).
  2. Draw the graph of \(y\) against \(\dfrac{1}{x}\) for \(0<\dfrac{1}{x}\le1\).
  3. Explain how your graph shows that \(y\) is inversely proportional to \(x\), and write down the equation connecting \(x\) and \(y\).
