Testing and graphing direct proportion

Testing and graphing direct proportion

Secondary 2

A shop sells cable at a fixed price per metre. The table shows the cost, \(\$C\), of \(x\) metres of cable.

\(x\)\(3\)\(5\)\(8\)
\(C\)\(4.80\)\(8.00\)\(12.80\)
  1. Show that \(C\) is directly proportional to \(x\), and find an equation connecting \(C\) and \(x\).
  2. Draw the graph of \(C\) against \(x\) for \(0\le x\le10\).
  3. State the gradient of your graph and what it represents.
