Logarithms II – Special Properties

Logarithms II – Special Properties

All real logarithms below have positive arguments and a positive base different from 1. In the power law, the argument before raising it to a power is positive.

Properties to Note:

\(\log_a 1 = 0\)

e.g. \(\log_5 1 = 0, \log_{17.5} 1 = 0, \ln 1 = 0\)

\(\log_a a = 1\)

e.g. \(\log_{11} 11 = 1, \log_{20.5} 20.5 = 1, \ln e = 1\)
