Output rates of two pumps

Pump X and Pump Y deliver water at constant rates of \(x\) litres per hour and \(y\) litres per hour respectively.

1. Form equations in \(x\) and \(y\) for the following tests.
   1. Pump X runs for \(3\) hours and Pump Y runs for \(4\) hours, delivering \(570\) litres altogether.
   2. Pump X runs for \(5\) hours and Pump Y runs for \(2\) hours, delivering \(530\) litres altogether.
2. Hence, solve the simultaneous equations obtained in (a) and find the delivery rate of each pump.
