A ladder in three support configurations

Secondary 2
TGM Original Questions

A ladder is placed in three configurations.

  1. An 8 m ladder makes \(62^\circ\) with level ground; find its vertical height.
  2. A ladder touches the edge \(Y\) of a 5.5 m-high shed. The length \(AY=6.5\) m and \(BY=1.5\) m; find its angle with the ground.
  3. A ladder is inclined at \(75^\circ\). The point \(C\) on it is 7.4 m from its foot \(A\), and a horizontal rod \(CD=1.0\) m reaches a vertical wall. Find the horizontal distance from \(A\) to the wall. Give non-exact lengths, areas and other numerical values to 3 significant figures, and angles to 1 decimal place, unless otherwise stated.
