TGM Original Questions

A lighthouse \(AB\) is vertical. A ship at \(D\) is 120 m from its foot \(B\), and the angle of depression from \(A\) to \(D\) is \(36^\circ\). A boat \(C\), between \(B\) and \(D\), observes \(A\) at an angle of elevation of \(52^\circ\). Find

  1. the lighthouse height to the nearest metre,
  2. \(CD\). Give non-exact lengths, areas and other numerical values to 3 significant figures, and angles to 1 decimal place, unless otherwise stated.
