Fractional equations with two denominators and a rejected root

Fractional equations with two denominators and a rejected root

Secondary 3

Solve each equation. State the values of \(x\) that are not allowed, and explain any root you reject.

  1. \(\dfrac{2}{x+2}+\dfrac{x}{x-2}=\dfrac{8}{x^2-4}\)
  2. \(\dfrac{x}{x-3}-\dfrac{1}{x+1}=\dfrac{4}{(x-3)(x+1)}\)
