Modelling Balance on a Gift Card Over Time

Modelling Balance on a Gift Card Over Time

Secondary 1

Mr Lim has a coffeeshop gift card with \(\$250\) stored in it. Every day, he buys a cup of coffee which costs \(\$7.50\) by using the gift card.

  1. Find the money left in the gift card after
    1. \(5\) days,
    2. \(15\) days,
    3. \(30\) days.
  2. Given that \(\$T\) represents the amount of money left in the gift card after \(x\) days, complete the table.
    \(x\)\(5\)\(15\)\(30\)
    \(T\)
  3. On a sheet of graph paper, using a scale of \(2\) cm represents \(5\) days on the horizontal axis and \(2\) cm represents \(\$25\) on the vertical axis, plot the pair of values of \(\left( x,T \right)\).
  4. From the graph, find the number of days during which the gift card has more than \(\$100\) stored
