Mastery of Tree Diagrams: Calculating Joint Probabilities

Mastery of Tree Diagrams: Calculating Joint Probabilities

Secondary 4

A spinner with equal sectors is shown. The spinner is spun once and the number of the sector the spinner lands on is observed. Each time the spinner is spun, it is equally likely to stop at any sector.
At the same time the spinner is spun, a fair coin is also tossed once.

  1. Represent the possible outcomes using a tree diagram.
  2. Calculate the probability that
    1. the spinner lands on an even number and the coin shows head,
    2. the spinner lands on an odd number and the coin shows tail.
