At time \(t=0\), a particle is at rest at a point \(10\) metres from \(O\). Its acceleration after \(t\) seconds is \(a=(12-6t)\text{ m s}^{-2}\), where \(0\leq t\leq6\).

  1. Find the velocity of the particle in terms of \(t\).[2]
  2. Find the positive time at which the particle is next instantaneously at rest.[1]
  3. Find the greatest displacement of the particle from \(O\).[2]
  4. Calculate the total distance travelled in the first \(6\) seconds.[3]

The initial displacement from \(O\) is \(+10\) metres in the chosen positive direction.
