TGM Original Questions

The number of cards Tom and Mark each have are in the ratio \(2:3\). If Mark gives \(4\) cards to Tom, the ratio becomes \(5:7\). By letting \(x\) be the number of cards Tom has,

  1. form an equation in terms of x and show that it reduces to:
    \(7x+28=7.5x-20\)[2]
  2. hence, or otherwise, find the number of cards Mark originally has.[2]
