An introduction to series
A series is the sum of the terms of a sequence. For the sequence \(a_1,a_2,\ldots,a_n\), the sum of the first \(n\) terms is \(S_n=a_1+a_2+\cdots+a_n\).
A series may have finitely many terms or continue indefinitely.
The general term is \(T_n=S_n-S_{n-1}\), for \(n\ge2\), with \(T_1=S_1\).
