Finding Costs Using Simultaneous Equations

Finding Costs Using Simultaneous Equations

TGM Original

At a Korean buffet restaurant, adults are charged at a fixed price and children are charged at a lower fixed price. The total cost for \(3\) adults and \(4\) children is \(\$108\), while the total for \(5\) adults and \(2\) children is \(\$124\).
Let \(\$x\) be the cost for an adult and \(\$y\) be the cost for a child.

  1. Form two equations involving \(x\) and \(y\).
  2. Hence, find the cost for an adult and a child.
  3. Find the total cost of \(6\) adults and \(2\) children.
