Word Problem: Fuel Consumption and Distance

TGM Original

Beatrice’s car can travel \(x\) km on each litre of petrol. She travelled \(\left( x+10 \right)\) km on Monday.

  1. Write down, in terms of \(x\), the number of litres of petrol she used on Monday.
  2. Given that she travelled \(\left( 2x+15 \right)\) km on Tuesday and used \(1.25\) litres of petrol more on Tuesday than on Monday, form an equation in \(x\) and solve it.
  3. Calculate the total distance that she travelled on Monday and Tuesday.
