Drawing an exponential growth graph

Drawing an exponential growth graph

TGM Original

A colony starts with 50 insects and doubles in size every week. After \(t\) weeks there are \(N=50\times2^{t}\) insects.

  1. Complete the table.
    \(t\)012345
    \(N\)50100
  2. On the grid, draw the graph of \(N\) against \(t\) for \(0\le t\le5\).
  3. Use your graph to estimate when there are 1000 insects.
  4. Use your graph to estimate the number of insects after 3.5 weeks.
