Drawing a depreciation graph

Drawing a depreciation graph

TGM Original

A car is worth £16 000 when new. Its value falls by 25% each year, so its value after \(t\) years is \(V=16\,000\times0.75^{t}\) pounds.

  1. Complete the table, giving values to the nearest £10.
    \(t\)012345
    \(V\)16 00012 000
  2. Draw the graph of \(V\) against \(t\) for \(0\le t\le5\).
  3. Use your graph to estimate the time when the car is worth £8000.
