First time at rest, total distance and acceleration for a velocity function involving t cos t

First time at rest, total distance and acceleration for a velocity function involving t cos t

6 marks

A particle travels along a straight line. Its velocity after \(t\) seconds is \(v\ \mathrm{m\,s}^{-1}\), where \(v(t)=t\cos t+2\) and \(0\leq t\leq8\).

The graph of \(v\) against \(t\) is shown below.

  1. Find the earliest time at which the particle is instantaneously at rest.[2]
  2. Calculate how far the particle travels altogether for \(0\leq t\leq8\).[2]
  3. Determine the acceleration of the particle at the instant when \(t=5\).[2]
