TGM Original Questions

The length of every side of a regular pentagon can be written in each of the equivalent forms \((3x-y)\) cm, \(\frac{2x+y+6}{2}\) cm and \((x+2y)\) cm.

  1. Write down two independent equations connecting \(x\) and \(y\).[2]
  2. Solve the equations obtained in (a) to find \(x\) and \(y\).[3]
  3. Hence, find the perimeter of the pentagon.[2]
