IB Year 6 | Grade 12

The roots of the equation \(x^3-5x^2+2x+8=0\) are \(\alpha\), \(\beta\) and \(\gamma\).

  1. Find the value of \(\alpha^2+\beta^2+\gamma^2\).
  2. By considering the factorised form of \(x^3-5x^2+2x+8\), find the value of \((1-\alpha)(1-\beta)(1-\gamma)\).
