Surface Area of Pyramid

Surface Area of Pyramid

Secondary 2

Total surface area of pyramid = total area of all faces

For the right square-based pyramid illustrated, let the base side be \(p\) and the common perpendicular height of each triangular face be \(s\). Then total surface area is \(p^2+4(\frac12ps)=p^2+2ps\). For a general pyramid, add the individual face areas.
