Solving Linear Inequalities

Solving Linear Inequalities

Secondary 3

Solving linear inequalities is the same as solving linear equations except that the inequality sign will reverse when it is multiplied or divided by a negative number.

A non-degenerate linear equation in one unknown has one solution. After simplification, equations or inequalities can also give no solutions or all real numbers. A non-degenerate linear inequality usually describes an interval.

The set of all possible values that satisfy an inequality is known as the solution set.
