Discrete Random Variables (DRV)

Discrete Random Variables (DRV)

Given that \(X\) and \(Y\) are independent variables such that \(\mathrm{E}(X)=-3\), \(\mathrm{Var}(X)=5\), \(\mathrm{E}(Y)=3\) and \(\mathrm{Var}(Y)=14\).

Find the expectation and variance of

  1. \(5X+6Y\)
  2. \(-4X-7Y\)
  3. \((X_{1}+X_{2}+....X_{5})-(Y_{1}+Y_{2}+...+Y_{7})\)
