Discrete Random Variables (DRV)

Discrete Random Variables (DRV)

Given that \(X\) and \(Y\) are independent variables such that \(\mathrm{E}(X)=10\), \(\mathrm{Var}(X)=12\), \(\mathrm{E}(Y)=5\) and \(\mathrm{Var}(Y)=8\).

Find the expectation and variance of

  1. \(4X + 2Y\)
  2. \(3X - 4Y\)
  3. \(X_1 + X_2 + X_3 - Y_1 - Y_2 - Y_3 - Y_4\)
