Definite integrals via integration by parts

Definite integrals via integration by parts

IB Year 6 | Grade 12

Let \(u, v\) be functions define on the interval \([a,b]\).

Apply the limits throughout the integral:
\[\displaystyle \displaystyle\int_{a}^{b} u \frac{\mathrm{d}v}{\mathrm{d}x} \, \mathrm{d}x = \big[ uv \big]_{a}^{b} - \displaystyle \displaystyle\int_{a}^{b} v \frac{\mathrm{d}u}{\mathrm{d}x} \, \mathrm{d}x.\]
