Kinematics - Differentiating Displacement and Velocity

Kinematics - Differentiating Displacement and Velocity

TGM Original Questions

A particle, \(P\), moves in a straight line. Its displacement, \(x\) m, from a fixed point \(O\) at time \(t\) is given by \(x = t(t^2 - 16)\).
Find

  1. the times when the particle is at \(O\),

  2. an expression for the velocity of the particle,

  3. when the particle is at rest,

Here \(t\ge0\) is the time in seconds from the start of the motion.
