Cuboid with Cylindrical Hole – Surface Area and Volume

Cuboid with Cylindrical Hole – Surface Area and Volume

Secondary 1

In the figure, \(EF=20\) cm, \(FG=24\) cm, \(AE=\left( y+5 \right)\) cm. A hole of radius \(x\) cm is drilled through the cuboids. Taking \(\pi =\frac{22}{7}\).

Find

  1. the value of \(x\) if the shaded area is \(326\) cm\({^2}\),
  2. the value of \(y\) if the total surface area is \(2588\) cm\({^2}\),
  3. the volume of the solid.
