Linearization of Equations

Linearization of Equations

Linearize the following equations where \(a\) and \(b\) are constants.

  1. \(y=a x^{2}-\frac{b}{x}\)
  2. \(\frac{1}{y}=a x^{3}-\frac{b}{x^{2}}\)
  3. \(y=3 b^{x}\)
  4. \(y=b^{2x+1}-1\)

Answer:(a) Plot \(xy\) against \(x^3\): \(xy=ax^3-b\) (b) Plot \(\dfrac{x^2}{y}\) against \(x^5\): \(\dfrac{x^2}{y}=ax^5-b\) (c) Plot \(\ln y\) against \(x\): \(\ln y=(\ln b)x+\ln3\) (d) Plot \(\ln(y+1)\) against \(x\): \(\ln(y+1)=(2\ln b)x+\ln b\).
