Vectors - Distance from a Point to a Line

IP 3

Let \(l_1\), \(l_2\) be two parallel straight lines with equations \(ax + by + c_1 = 0\) and \(ax + by + c_2 = 0\), where \(c_1 \neq c_2\).

Show that the distance between \(l_1\) and \(l_2\) is \(\frac{|c_1 - c_2|}{\sqrt{a^2 + b^2}}.\)
