Connected rates of change for gas pressure inversely proportional to volume in a cylinder

Connected rates of change for gas pressure inversely proportional to volume in a cylinder

4 marks

A fixed amount of gas is trapped in a cylinder below a piston. The piston is pulled upwards, so that the volume of the gas, \(V\text{ cm}^3\), increases.

The pressure of the gas, \(P\) newtons per \(\text{cm}^2\), satisfies \(PV=400\).

At one instant the volume is \(50\text{ cm}^3\) and is increasing at \(6\text{ cm}^3\) per second.

Find the rate at which the pressure is decreasing at this instant.[4]
