\(\xi=\{\text{quadrilaterals}\hspace{0.15em}\}\), \(R=\{\text{quadrilaterals with four right angles}\hspace{0.15em}\}\) and \(E=\{\text{quadrilaterals with four equal sides}\hspace{0.15em}\}\).

Five quadrilaterals are described below.

\(P\): a rectangle measuring \(7\text{ cm}\) by \(3\text{ cm}\)

\(Q\): a square of side \(4\text{ cm}\)

\(S\): a rhombus of side \(6\text{ cm}\) with an angle of \(70^\circ\)

\(T\): a kite with sides \(5\text{ cm}\), \(5\text{ cm}\), \(9\text{ cm}\) and \(9\text{ cm}\)

\(U\): a trapezium with exactly two right angles and parallel sides of \(5\text{ cm}\) and \(8\text{ cm}\)

  1. Write the letter of each quadrilateral in the correct region of the Venn diagram.[3]
  2. \(K=\{\text{squares}\hspace{0.15em}\}\). Using set notation, state the relationship between \(K\) and \(R\).[1]

Answer:(a) \(R\) only: \(P\); \(R\cap E\): \(Q\); \(E\) only: \(S\); outside both: \(T\), \(U\) (b) \(K\subset R\)
