Choosing a proportion model

Choosing a proportion model

Secondary 2

The table shows three relationships, A, B and C, between \(x\) and \(y\).

\(x\)\(2\)\(4\)\(10\)
\(y\) in A\(5\)\(10\)\(25\)
\(y\) in B\(15\)\(7.5\)\(3\)
\(y\) in C\(7\)\(11\)\(23\)
  1. For each relationship, state whether \(y\) is directly proportional to \(x\), inversely proportional to \(x\), or neither. Justify each answer.
  2. Write down the equation connecting \(x\) and \(y\) for each proportional relationship.
