Application of Direct Proportion

Secondary 2

The volume of water, \(V\)m\(^{3}\), flowing through a cylindrical pipe is directly proportional to the square of its cross-sectional radius, \(R\)m. When the radius is \(0.2\)m, the volume is \(12\)m\(^{3}\).

  1. Find the value of \(V\) when \(R=0.5\).
  2. If the radius is increased by \(100\%\), find the percentage increase in the volume.
