Finding constants from an expansion

Finding constants from an expansion

  1. Expand and simplify \((2x+a)(x-3)\), where \(a\) is a constant.[2]
  2. It is given that \((2x+a)(x-3)+b=2x^2+5x-7\) for all values of \(x\), where \(b\) is a constant. Find the values of \(a\) and \(b\).[3]
  3. Hence, without expanding again, factorise \(2x^2+5x-33\).[2]
