TGM Original Questions

Warehouse A initially holds \(18\) more crates than twice the number in Warehouse B. After \(10\) crates are dispatched from each warehouse, Warehouse A holds four times as many crates as Warehouse B. Let \(x\) and \(y\) be the original numbers of crates in Warehouses A and B respectively.

  1. Using the initial stock information, form an equation in \(x\) and \(y\).[1]
  2. Using the information after the dispatch, form another equation in \(x\) and \(y\).[2]
  3. Solve the equations obtained in (a) and (b) to find the original stock in each warehouse.[3]
  4. Hence, find the original total number of crates.[1]
