3-Dimensional Problem

3-Dimensional Problem

Secondary 3

\(A\), \(B\), \(C\) and \(D\) are four points at sea level.
\(A\) is due west of \(B\), \(AB=320\) m, \(AD=132\) m, \(BC=180\) m, \(\angle ADC=48{}^\circ\).
The bearing of \(B\) from \(C\) is \(160{}^\circ\).

  1. Calculate
    1. the bearing of \(C\) from \(B\),
    2. \(\angle ABC\),
    3. distance \(CA\),
    4. \(\angle ACD\),
    5. area of \(\Delta ABC\).
  2. A boy stands on a vertical tower of height \(35\) m at \(C\) and looks at a boat travelling along \(AB\). Find
    1. the shortest distance of \(C\) to the boat.
    2. the greatest angle of depression from \(C\) to the boat.
