\(ABC\) is an arc of a circle, centre \(O\) and radius \(8\text{ cm}\). The tangents at \(A\) and \(C\) meet at \(P\). Angle \(AOC\) is \(\dfrac{2\pi}{9}\) radians and \(AP=2.91\text{ cm}\).

  1. Show that angle \(APC=\dfrac{7\pi}{9}\) radians. Give reasons for each step of your working.[2]
  2. Find the area of the shaded region.[3]
