Referred to the origin \(O\), the points \(A\), \(B\) and \(C\) have position vectors \(3\mathbf{i}-\mathbf{j}\), \(5\mathbf{i}+3\mathbf{j}+4\mathbf{k}\) and \(2\mathbf{i}+\alpha \mathbf{j}+\sqrt{2}\mathbf{k}\) respectively, where \(\alpha \) is a non-zero constant.

  1. Given that the acute angle between the \(x\)-axis and the line passing through \(A\) and \(C\) is \({{60}^{{}^\circ }}\), find the value of \(\alpha \).[3]

The line \(l\) passes through \(A\) and \(B\).

  1. A point \(Q\) lies on \(l\) such that \(AQ=3\) units. Find the two possible position vectors of \(Q\).[4]

The plane \(\pi \) containing \(A\) has equation \(x+2z=3\).

  1. Find the position vector of the point \(F\) on \(\pi \) that is closest to \(B\).[3]
  2. Hence find a vector equation of the line of reflection of \(l\) in \(\pi \).[3]
