A curve \(C\) has parametric equations

\(x=2\sin t\), \(y=1+\cos t\), \(0 < t < \pi \)

  1. Show that the equation of the tangent to \(C\) at the point \(P(2\sin p,1+\cos p)\) is \(2y+x\tan p=2(1+\sec p)\).[4]
  2. The tangent at \(P\) meets the \(x\)- axis at the point \(A\) and the \(y\)- axis at the point \(B\). The point \(M\) is the midpoint of \(AB\). Find the cartesian equation of the curve traced by \(M\) as \(p\) varies.[5]
