Compound Angles (HL only)

TGM Original
sin(A+- B)=sin Acos B+-cos Asin B cos(A+- B)=cos Acos B Asin B tan(A+- B)= tan A+-tan B1 Atan B For the tangent form, both individual tangents and the final denominator must be defined. Choose signs carefully: cosine uses the opposite sign between the products. Example sin75 =sin(45 +30) = 22 32+ 22 12 = 6+ 24. Setting B=A derives the sine and cosine double-angle identities and tan2A= 2tan A1-tan2A. Other multiple-angle relations can be derived by repeated use of compound-angle identities.
